Bitcoin Steadies Near $84K as US Treasury Yields Hit 19-Year High

Bitcoin stabilized near $84,000 on Thursday, September 24, 2026, as US Treasury yields surged to their highest level since 2007, pressuring risk assets while the Ondo Finance token rallied sharply.
The yield on the benchmark 10-year US Treasury note climbed over 4 basis points to 5.18%, a level not seen in nearly two decades, while the 30-year yield reached 5.46%. The move came as the US Treasury conducted a bond buyback operation and the Japanese yen weakened, potentially adding further pressure to the bond market.
Bitcoin experienced volatility during US trading hours, briefly dipping below $83,000 before struggling to reclaim the $84,500 level. The rising yields, which make government bonds more attractive, traditionally weigh on non-yielding assets like Bitcoin.
Amid the macro pressure, Ondo Finance’s ONDO token emerged as a top performer, rallying to reclaim the $0.50 level for the first time since December 2025. The surge coincided with the launch of BlackRock-backed Ondo Intelligent Portfolios, which offer tokenized shares in diversified portfolios on Ethereum and BNB Chain.
