Bitcoin Artist Lucho Poletti Unveils ‘Ten Decrees’ Series on Fiat Money’s Legacy

Bitcoin artist Lucho Poletti has unveiled a new series of ten detailed drawings, titled ‘Ten Decrees,’ reimagining works by Hieronymus Bosch and Pieter Bruegel the Elder to critique fiat monetary systems.
The series, which began its staggered release on August 15, 2026—the 55th anniversary of President Nixon suspending the dollar’s convertibility to gold—uses the Latin verb ‘fiat’ (let it be done) as its organizing principle. Each of the first nine drawings issues a command, such as ‘Fiat Lucrum’ (Let there be profit) or ‘Furia Fiat’ (Let there be fury), while the tenth, ‘Ultima Fiat,’ reverses that authority to mean ‘let it be the last.’
Poletti, a contributor to the Bitcoin Conference art gallery since 2021, explained that Bosch and Bruegel’s densely populated allegorical works, created during periods of monetary upheaval and debasement in 16th-century Europe, provide a model for depicting systemic societal failure. ‘The system shows up in the sum of it,’ Poletti said. ‘It’s a great way to depict the effects of money, which nobody really sees and everybody feels.’
The series will conclude on January 3, 2027, the anniversary of Bitcoin‘s Genesis Block. Five of the ten 30-by-20-inch prints have been released, with the sixth, ‘Fiat Fames,’ scheduled for November 7. Poletti will present the work at Bitcoin Amsterdam in November, where elements will be adapted for a main-stage LED installation.
