Robinhood Expands Crypto Perpetuals Trading to US and EU Users
Robinhood perpetual futures — Robinhood has expanded access to its cryptocurrency perpetual futures contracts to retail users in the United States and the European Union, marking a significant deepening of its crypto offerings.
The trading platform, which previously offered these leveraged derivatives only to non-U.S. users, is now rolling them out more broadly as part of its push to become an “everything app.” The move allows eligible customers to trade popular crypto assets like Bitcoin and Ethereum with leverage, a product type that has become a major revenue driver for other exchanges.
This expansion follows Robinhood’s acquisition of the derivatives exchange Bitstamp earlier this year, a deal that provided the company with key regulatory licenses and expertise. The integration of perpetual futures is seen as a direct challenge to larger, established crypto trading platforms that dominate the derivatives market.
Alongside this launch, Robinhood also announced it will begin offering 24/7 trading for U.S. stocks and ETFs, a service previously limited to crypto assets on its platform. The company is positioning these moves as part of a broader strategy to capture more of the retail trading market by offering a wider suite of financial products.
