SALT CEO Highlights Bitcoin’s Liquidity Advantage Over Gold and Real Estate

Bitcoin's liquidity advantage — SALT Lending CEO Shawn Owen argues Bitcoin‘s portability and liquidity give it a distinct advantage over traditional stores of value like gold and real estate, especially as institutional interest grows.
Speaking on BMTV, Owen noted Bitcoin’s resilience during recent market stress for long-duration assets. He emphasized its practical benefits, stating it is easier to buy, move, and divide than physical gold or property, a crucial factor during geopolitical unrest or when quick access to value is needed.
Owen believes a ‘fear of missing out’ is now reaching larger institutions and sovereign wealth funds, following the path of early retail adopters. He predicts continued adoption and price appreciation over the next decade, albeit with potentially dampened volatility as the market matures.
Aligning with this long-term view, Owen advises holders to “never sell your bitcoin.” He promotes using Bitcoin as collateral for loans—a service his company provides—as a way to access liquidity without sacrificing future exposure to the asset’s potential price gains.
