Injective launches onchain futures market tracking Nvidia GPU rental costs

Nvidia GPU rental costs — The Injective blockchain has launched a perpetual futures market for a new index tracking the rental costs of five Nvidia graphics processing units (GPUs), allowing leveraged bets on AI computing expenses.
The Super Intelligence Compute Index (SICI) tracks rental prices for Nvidia’s H100, B200, H200, A100, and RTX 4090 chips, using data compiled by market data firm LO:TECH. The index, updated hourly, assigns the largest weight to the H100 at 40%, followed by the B200 at 25%. Traders can take long or short positions on the index’s future value using USDC as margin with up to 10x leverage.
Injective said the market could help AI developers hedge against rising computing costs and allow GPU providers to protect against declining rental revenue. The launch expands on Injective’s August 2025 introduction of a market tied solely to Nvidia H100 rental prices.
The launch comes amid financial scrutiny of the AI infrastructure sector. Research firm Gartner warned in October that over 80% of specialist AI cloud providers could cease operating independently by 2030 due to investment return challenges.
