Solana Launches Institutional Settlement Standard With J.P. Morgan
The Solana Foundation has launched an open-source institutional settlement standard, developed with input from J.P. Morgan, designed to finalize trades in seconds.
The new program, known as a Delivery-versus-Payment (DvP) settlement mechanism, enables the atomic settlement of tokenized assets and cash-equivalents directly on the Solana blockchain. This process, which traditionally can take days in legacy financial systems, is executed with finality in seconds on-chain.
The standard was built with contributions from J.P. Morgan’s Onyx Digital Assets team and other financial institutions. It is intended to provide a foundational technical framework for institutional adoption, allowing for the programmable and simultaneous exchange of assets to mitigate counterparty risk.
This development marks a significant step in bridging traditional finance with blockchain infrastructure, positioning Solana as a potential venue for institutional-grade settlement of securities, treasury products, and other digital assets.
