Solana Foundation launches DvP protocol to settle trades in seconds

Solana DvP protocol — The Solana Foundation has launched an open-source settlement protocol designed to allow financial institutions to complete securities trades in seconds instead of days.
Announced on October 6, the Solana DvP (Delivery-versus-Payment) program provides an application programming interface for settling asset transfers and payments in a single, atomic transaction. This process ensures a trade either completes in full or does not occur, aiming to eliminate settlement risk.
Rhodel D’Souza, head of markets digital assets at JPMorgan, stated the standard is the type of foundational infrastructure needed for institutions to operate at scale. JPMorgan provided input on institutional requirements during the protocol’s development.
The launch adds to a growing trend of using blockchain to accelerate financial settlement. It follows other industry initiatives, including a cross-chain DvP pilot in 2025 involving Chainlink, JPMorgan’s Kinexys, and Ondo Finance.
