Solana block times — The Solana network has accelerated its block production by 17% following a recent upgrade, reducing the average time to create a new block.

The improvement, implemented via a software update, decreased the average block time from roughly 400 milliseconds to around 332 milliseconds. This change increases the ‘freshness’ of block data, allowing validators to receive information faster and potentially improving the user experience for time-sensitive applications.

Solana developers clarified that this speed boost does not equate to an increase in the network’s transaction processing capacity or throughput. The fundamental speed limit for transactions remains governed by other network constraints.
