Coinbase rebrands Base App — Coinbase has ended its social experiment with the Base App, rebranding the product back to its original name, Coinbase Wallet, after just over a year.

The company launched the Base App in mid-2025 as a separate, social-first wallet experience focused on community and discovery. The decision to revert to the established Coinbase Wallet brand suggests the social experiment did not achieve its intended traction or differentiation. The wallet remains a core part of Coinbase’s multi-chain strategy.

Despite the name change, the product continues to expand its technical capabilities. It now supports more than ten networks, including newer entrants like Robinhood Chain and Monad. The wallet has also broadened its feature set to include access to perpetual futures contracts, prediction markets, and tokenized stocks.

The move consolidates Coinbase’s wallet offerings under a single, well-known brand name, potentially simplifying the user experience and leveraging the stronger recognition of the original Coinbase Wallet product in a competitive market.
