September loss streak — Bitcoin is poised to close September with a gain, breaking a decade-long pattern where every positive August was followed by a negative September.

With two days left in the month, Bitcoin is up approximately 7% for September, following a 25% gain in August. This would mark the first time since 2013 that a positive August has not been followed by a negative September, resulting in a third consecutive monthly gain from July through September.

The potential positive close would also cement Bitcoin’s first positive quarter since Q3 2025, with the third quarter up more than 40%. Historically, the fourth quarter has been Bitcoin’s strongest, averaging a gain of roughly 77% according to CoinGlass data.

The macro backdrop remains volatile, with global bond yields rising and the U.S. 10-year yield above 5%. Bitcoin was trading around $84,000 as the quarter drew to a close.
