increase crypto holdings — A new survey from financial giant Charles Schwab reveals that a majority of current cryptocurrency investors in the United States plan to increase their holdings over the next year, outpacing intentions for other asset classes.

The firm’s 2026 Modern Wealth Survey, released Wednesday, found that 60% of existing crypto investors intend to invest more in the next 12 months. This figure is higher than the share for ETF investors (56%), stock investors (52%), bond investors (42%), and mutual fund investors (41%). The online survey was conducted among 2,000 Americans between August 24 and September 17.

Joe Vietri, Head of Digital Assets at Charles Schwab, stated that younger investors are driving the momentum and that cryptocurrency is “increasingly viewed as a complement to traditional investments.” The survey also found that nearly half of all investors now own cryptocurrency, with millennials being the most likely demographic to hold it.

Charles Schwab, the largest custodian for registered investment advisors in the U.S., has been expanding its crypto offerings. This year it began a phased retail rollout of Schwab Crypto for direct bitcoin trading and also offers crypto-linked ETFs and futures. The firm’s clients hold over 20% of all crypto exchange-traded products industry-wide.
