Raiffeisen Bank to Offer Bitcoin Trading to 18 Million European Customers

Raiffeisen Bank International (RBI) announced it will roll out Bitcoin trading services to its 18 million customers across Europe, expanding its existing partnership with Austrian crypto brokerage Bitpanda.

The bank stated the move is a direct response to growing customer demand for crypto assets in its markets. RBI CEO Michael Höllerer emphasized the bank is addressing this demand with a “strong, reputable partner” to best meet client needs.

The new agreement establishes a single, group-wide approach for offering digital assets, moving away from the previous model of separate market-by-market integrations. This builds on an initial 2024 pilot where a Raiffeisen subsidiary in Austria became the first traditional EU bank to integrate crypto trading directly into its banking environment using Bitpanda’s technology.

RBI, which operates in 11 Central and Eastern European countries, joins a growing list of major global financial institutions like BBVA, Morgan Stanley, and Charles Schwab that have launched or announced retail crypto trading services in recent years. Bitpanda Enterprise provides the underlying infrastructure, including investment tools, liquidity, and custody.
