Bitcoin ETFs See $635M Outflow as Oil Spike Sparks Risk-Off Sentiment

Pics-23

Bitcoin ETFs — U.S. spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) recorded a net outflow of $635.6 million on Thursday as geopolitical tensions triggered a flight from risk assets.

Data from Farside Investors shows the withdrawals, led by BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust with over $254 million in outflows, contributed to a dip in Bitcoin’s price below $81,000. The asset later recovered to trade around $81,669.

The sell-off coincided with a spike in oil prices after Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia raised supply concerns. Analysts note higher oil prices can fuel inflation fears, potentially leading to tighter monetary policy, which historically pressures risk-on assets like Bitcoin.

Despite the single-day exodus, the ETF cohort has still seen net inflows of over $439 million for the week. Bitcoin’s price action remains volatile, having rallied strongly in the third quarter after trading below its late-2025 record high for much of the year.
