$1 million Bitcoin — Calamos Investments CEO John Koudounis has reiterated his prediction that Bitcoin will reach $1 million by 2030, citing institutional adoption and new financial products as key drivers.

Koudounis, whose firm manages over $40 billion in assets, stated that Bitcoin is headed for a “huge awakening” through 2028. He pointed to major banks lending against Bitcoin, decreasing volatility, and the proliferation of new ETF products as factors that will unlock access to the world’s largest advised capital pools.

The CEO explained that Calamos researched Bitcoin for eight years before investing and has since launched innovative products like the world’s first downside-protected Bitcoin ETF. He argued that sovereign wealth funds and large banks are now actively seeking Bitcoin exposure, a shift from previous hesitancy.

Koudounis also contrasted Bitcoin with gold, stating that Bitcoin’s finite supply makes it superior to gold’s merely scarce supply. He expressed confidence that financial advisors will increasingly allocate to Bitcoin as regulatory clarity improves, particularly following the Clarity Act and Bitcoin’s commodity status designation.
