AI Coding Agents Fuel 14-Fold Rise in Bitcoin Integration Demand

Pics-1-3

Bitcoin software firm Breez reports a dramatic surge in demand for its developer tools, with partnership inquiries rising roughly 14-fold since AI coding agents like Claude Code became mainstream.

The company said in a blog post that before 2025, most prospective partners were bitcoin enthusiasts, crypto developers, or fintech firms. Since the launch of Anthropic’s Claude Code in early 2025, it has fielded requests from developers with little to no bitcoin experience, including those behind fitness apps, messaging platforms, eSIM services, and even a mushroom-identification app.

Breez stated that a growing share of inquiries now come directly from AI coding agents writing on behalf of the companies that deploy them. The company argues these agents favor Bitcoin for its permissionless nature, allowing them to build apps and set up global payments without needing to open bank accounts or pass traditional onboarding checks.

The firm said its newest Software Development Kit (SDK) implementation, built on the Bitcoin scaling protocol Spark, has handled the increased volume without issue. It framed the shift as an evolution of the ‘software is eating the world’ concept, suggesting AI is now eating software, with Bitcoin serving as critical background infrastructure.
