Block Gifts One Bitcoin — Jack Dorsey’s Block gave away one bitcoin, worth approximately $85,000, to a lucky participant at the ComplexCon cultural festival in Los Angeles over the weekend.

The fintech giant hosted a booth at the event featuring a fishing game called “Lightning Lake,” where attendees could win small amounts of bitcoin. The grand prize was a full bitcoin, awarded as part of Block’s initiative to introduce the cryptocurrency to a new audience through culture and interactive experiences.

Maria Pesce, Head of Bitcoin Marketing at Block, stated the goal was to make bitcoin feel approachable and fun, allowing people to go from never having used it to paying with it in one experience. The company’s Cash App and Square platforms are central to its broader push for bitcoin adoption as everyday money.

The event attracted notable figures, including North West and rapper French Montana, who were seen participating in the bitcoin fishing game. Block’s presence at ComplexCon aligns with its recent advertising campaign promoting bitcoin as a medium of exchange.
