Frank Holmes Warns of $100 Trillion Money Printing, Bullish on Bitcoin

Frank Holmes, executive chairman of HIVE Digital Technologies, has argued that massive future money printing makes Bitcoin and gold essential assets, while highlighting Bitcoin miners’ strategic advantage in the AI compute race.
In an interview with Bitcoin Magazine, Holmes suggested governments could print an additional $100 trillion, following the $40 trillion he estimates was created during the COVID-19 pandemic. He framed this as a major risk of modern monetary theory (MMT) driving a long-term adoption wave for Bitcoin as a store of value.
Holmes also positioned Bitcoin mining infrastructure as a foundational asset for artificial intelligence. He stated that miners already possess the critical components—power, land, and substations—that AI data centers require, calling Bitcoin mining a “tier one” data center business. HIVE’s own pivot into AI was facilitated by its existing GPU fleet from earlier Ethereum mining operations.
The executive chairman predicted the next wave of AI factories would be built on existing mining infrastructure from locations like Paraguay to Canada, turning compute into a traded commodity. He also noted the structural shift in Bitcoin demand, moving from a “fear trade” to a “love trade” accelerated by the approval of U.S. spot ETFs.
