Robinhood Launches Bitcoin and Ether Perpetual Futures for US Users

Bitcoin perpetual futures — Robinhood is launching crypto perpetual futures trading for its US customers, offering up to 10x leverage on Bitcoin and Ether, according to an interview with the company’s vice president of institutional crypto, Nicola White.
White explained that the offering was made possible through a partnership with the Bitstamp exchange and a no-action letter from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), facilitated by Robinhood’s derivatives unit. The move is part of the company’s broader push to create markets that are “always on,” aligning with its recent launch of 24/7 stock trading.
The executive highlighted the merging of retail and institutional activity in crypto markets, noting that institutions are increasingly seeking deep liquidity for large block trades in Bitcoin. She also discussed the potential for AI-driven trading agents and the importance of robust sub-account controls for institutional clients.
Reflecting on past market stress, White pointed to US leverage limits as a key safeguard. Looking ahead, she suggested that Bitcoin’s role in finance will continue to evolve significantly over the next decade, alongside developments in tokenized stocks.
