Analyst Tracy Shuchart Links Bitcoin to Tightening Commodities Supercycle

Senior economist Tracy Shuchart has highlighted Bitcoin‘s role as a hard asset within a tightening global commodities supercycle, citing persistent supply constraints in key markets like oil and copper.

In an interview with Bitcoin Magazine, Shuchart pointed to a continuing six-million-barrel-per-day shortfall in oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz, noting that markets are still tightening. She explained that lost production from Gulf Cooperation Council countries is unlikely to return quickly, while global refinery shortages and geopolitical factors could worsen the situation heading into winter.

Shuchart framed the discussion around hard assets, contrasting gold with Bitcoin. She argued that such assets are holding up as traditional bond markets show stress, partly driven by debt from AI data center expansion, and as a looming copper shortage presents a supply problem for the tech and energy sectors.

The analysis connects macro supply shocks in critical commodities to the investment case for non-sovereign stores of value, positioning Bitcoin within a broader narrative of resource scarcity and geopolitical strain.
