Blockchain Association CEO steps down after crypto Clarity Act fails

Blockchain Association CEO — Summer Mersinger is stepping down as CEO of the Blockchain Association, a leading crypto industry lobbying group, and will be replaced on an interim basis by the organization’s original leader, Kristin Smith.

The leadership transition was announced just days after a major legislative setback for the industry, with the U.S. Congress rejecting the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act. Mersinger’s departure is set for next month.

Kristin Smith previously led the Blockchain Association from its founding in 2018 until 15 months ago. Her return to the helm comes at a pivotal moment for the group’s advocacy efforts in Washington, D.C.
