Manhattan US Attorney Probing Binance Over Iran Sanctions Compliance

binance

Binance Iran sanctions — The Manhattan US Attorney’s Office is reportedly leading an investigation into whether Binance knowingly allowed trading that violated US sanctions on Iran, according to a Bloomberg report.

The investigation, which also involves the Justice Department’s Criminal Division in Washington, is examining potential sanctions violations. The probe provides new details on a Justice Department investigation first reported in March.

A Binance spokesperson told Cointelegraph the exchange maintains a “zero-tolerance policy for sanctions violations” and fully cooperates with law enforcement. The statement did not directly address the reported investigation.

An investigation does not establish wrongdoing and may conclude without charges being filed. In March, the Wall Street Journal reported the DOJ was examining whether Iran used Binance to evade sanctions, but it was unclear at the time if Binance itself was under investigation.
