Cardano’s IOG warns users to avoid hijacked YouTube channel

hijacked YouTube channel — Cardano developer Input Output Global has warned users to avoid its official YouTube channel after it was hijacked to livestream a suspected AI-generated scam video featuring founder Charles Hoskinson.
The channel streamed a manipulated video for nearly two hours on Friday, September 18, 2026. The fake broadcast was presented as a Project Catalyst town hall and directed viewers to a QR code with promises to “double your wealth.”
IOG issued a stark warning on its official X account, advising the community not to interact with the channel. It explicitly told users to avoid clicking links, sending funds, or sharing personal information in response to any content posted there.
The incident highlights the ongoing threat of AI-manipulated media and channel takeovers in the crypto space, where bad actors impersonate key figures to orchestrate giveaway scams.
