BlackRock partners with SBI and Startale for yen stablecoin and tokenized funds

Financial giant BlackRock has partnered with Japan’s SBI Holdings and Web3 infrastructure firm Startale Labs to explore connecting tokenized money market funds with a Japanese yen-pegged stablecoin.
The collaboration will focus on integrating BlackRock’s tokenized funds, such as its BUIDL product, with SBI’s JPYSC stablecoin. The goal is to create a seamless ecosystem where investors can use the yen stablecoin to purchase shares in tokenized funds, potentially unlocking new liquidity and investment avenues in Japan’s digital asset market.
SBI Holdings, a major Japanese financial services group, will contribute its regulated stablecoin and its extensive domestic network. Startale Labs, known for its work on the Astar Network, will provide the underlying Web3 infrastructure and technical expertise to facilitate the integration.
This initiative represents a significant step in bridging traditional finance with digital assets in a key global market, focusing on regulated stablecoins and institutional-grade tokenized products.
