CoinShares Says Hot Inflation Data Makes Bitcoin’s Setup ‘Difficult’ Not ‘Bearish’

hot inflation data — Bitcoin faces near-term pressure from persistent U.S. inflation data, but the outlook is not fundamentally bearish, according to analysis from European asset manager CoinShares.
In a Friday report, CoinShares Head of Research James Butterfill stated that Bitcoin’s challenge stems from a macro environment where inflation remains too high for the Federal Reserve to ease policy, yet the economy is resilient enough to avoid forcing a pivot. “Bitcoin and the broader digital asset market have moved lower on the resulting hawkish repricing, a reminder of how sensitive Bitcoin remains to monetary policy over short horizons,” Butterfill wrote.
The price of Bitcoin dropped following data showing U.S. consumer and producer prices rose more than expected in September, with the latter increasing at the fastest pace in over four years. Higher inflation raises the prospect of sustained elevated interest rates, which can restrict liquidity and weigh on asset prices.
Butterfill advised investors to view the coming weeks as a “data-driven range rather than a trend” and to size their digital asset exposure against a strategic, long-term allocation. He emphasized patience, suggesting investors should not overreact to individual weekly data prints.
