Crypto-aligned political action committees have escalated spending to over $52 million opposing Democratic Senator Sherrod Brown in Ohio’s pivotal 2026 Senate race.

According to Federal Election Commission filings, the Fairshake affiliate Defend American Jobs spent $46.6 million on media opposing Brown and supporting Republican incumbent Jon Husted. This marks a more than 50% increase from the $30 million Fairshake initially announced in September. Separately, the Winklevoss twins’ Digital Freedom Fund reported an additional $5.9 million in ad spending against Brown.

In a recent interview, Brown addressed the attack ads, stating, “Jon Husted is their boy… They know he’s their guy, they know I’m going to hold him accountable.” Brown, who chaired the Senate Banking Committee, has been an outspoken critic of policies favored by the crypto industry.

The spending in Ohio is part of a broader push by crypto PACs to influence the 2026 midterms. Fairshake, largely funded by Coinbase and Ripple, has stated its goal is to fill Congress with pro-crypto lawmakers. The group reported holding $193 million in cash ahead of the elections.
