Crypto Billionaires Deliver $97M to Nigel Farage’s Reform UK Party

Crypto Billionaires — Nigel Farage’s Reform UK party has received a combined 72 million pounds ($97 million) from two cryptocurrency billionaires, marking the largest-ever political donations in British history.
Ben Delo, co-founder of the BitMEX exchange, donated 36 million pounds on Friday. His contribution was matched the following day by Christopher Harborne, another major donor with ties to the crypto industry. In a statement, Harborne said he expected “no peerage, no policy change” in return for the funds.
Delo stated his donation was intended to ensure a “fair fight” in the upcoming general election, while Farage welcomed the funding as creating a “level playing field.” The donations come as Reform UK faces ongoing scrutiny over its financial support from figures linked to digital assets.
UK lawmakers have previously debated imposing a permanent moratorium on crypto-related political donations following earlier controversies involving Farage. Delo, who pleaded guilty to U.S. Bank Secrecy Act violations in 2022, was pardoned by former President Donald Trump in 2025.
