block Bitget exchange — Thailand’s securities regulator has filed a criminal complaint against cryptocurrency exchange Bitget and will block access to its platform in the country starting December 5.

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) announced on Thursday that it had notified the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society to block Bitget’s website, associated domains, and mobile app. The regulator advised users to manage any assets held on the platform before the deadline.

The complaint alleges that BG Limited, Bitget’s operator, offered crypto trading services between 2022 and 2025 without a license, charging trading fees and promoting its services in Thai. The SEC also named Kritsana Kritsananuwat, accusing him of helping promote Bitget through social media. The regulator had previously filed a complaint against him in March 2025 for allegedly promoting OKX’s unlicensed activities.

The action follows Bitget’s October 20 announcement of plans to acquire GMO-Z.com Cryptonomics, a locally licensed Thai crypto exchange, subject to regulatory approval. Thailand tightened its digital asset business rules in April 2025 to cover foreign platforms targeting local users.
