Bitcoin custody service — Deutsche Bank is reportedly weeks away from launching a cryptocurrency custody service, beginning with support for Bitcoin and other major digital assets for its institutional clients.

According to a Reuters report, the German banking giant plans to initially offer the service in Europe before expanding the custody platform into Asia next year. The bank’s corporate banking chief, Gerald Podobnik, stated that the financial system will need to offer blockchain-based solutions.

The move follows Deutsche Bank’s official announcement of its custody plans in September 2026, which was contingent on regulatory approvals. The service is expected to later include functionality for moving funds into and out of stablecoins.

Deutsche Bank joins a growing list of major global financial institutions, including BNY Mellon, Citigroup, and Standard Chartered, that have committed to offering direct digital asset custody over the past 18 months.
