UK Chancellor Slams Nigel Farage as ‘Liz Truss with a Bitcoin Account’

UK Chancellor of the Exchequer John Healey has criticized Reform Party leader Nigel Farage, labeling him “Liz Truss with a Bitcoin account” in a political speech.

Healey, a Labour Party finance minister, made the comment on Monday, comparing the pro-crypto politician to former Prime Minister Liz Truss, whose 2022 mini-budget was widely criticized. “When it comes to the economy, he’s Liz Truss with a Bitcoin account,” Healey stated, aiming to paint Farage’s economic plans as irresponsible.

The remark was mocked within the Bitcoin community on social media, with commentators questioning the concept of a “Bitcoin account.” Farage has been a vocal advocate for Bitcoin, framing it as a tool for personal freedom and opposition to state monetary control.

Farage has recently faced scrutiny for receiving millions in crypto donations from figures including Tether investor Christopher Harborne and BitMEX co-founder Ben Delo. The Metropolitan Police have opened an investigation into potential breaches of rules against overseas donations, which the Reform Party denies.
