Altcoin Exchange Deposits Surge 160% in Two Weeks

altcoin exchange deposits — Altcoin deposits to exchanges have surged by 160% over the past two weeks, reaching their highest transaction count in nearly a year, according to on-chain analytics firm CryptoQuant.
The seven-day total of altcoin deposit transactions hit 78,000 on September 28, up from approximately 29,800 on September 14. The number of unique addresses sending altcoins to exchanges also nearly tripled in the same period, rising from around 17,600 to 51,600. CryptoQuant noted both metrics represent the highest levels seen since October 2025.
The analytics platform warned that such a sharp increase in exchange inflows typically signals holders are preparing to sell their assets. “When holders move coins to exchanges, they usually intend to sell,” the report stated.
The surge in deposits coincides with recent signs of altcoin market strength. Data shows assets outside the top ten by market capitalization accounted for 9% of the total crypto market on September 27, their highest share since February, while Bitcoin‘s dominance has remained range-bound between 58% and 60.4% since late May.
