Over $1 Billion in Crypto Longs Liquidated as ETF Flows Fail to Lift Market

bullish bets liquidated — More than $1 billion in leveraged long positions were liquidated across the cryptocurrency market on Monday, as a lack of supportive spot buying from exchange-traded funds (ETFs) failed to stem the decline.
The liquidations, which were overwhelmingly on bullish bets, occurred as Bitcoin’s price slid below key support levels. Data from Coinglass shows the majority of the liquidations were on centralized exchanges, with Bitcoin and Ethereum positions accounting for a significant portion of the losses.
Analysts pointed to a notable absence of net inflows into U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs as a key factor preventing a recovery. Despite the price drop, ETF flows remained neutral or slightly negative, indicating a lack of institutional buying pressure to absorb the selling.
The market-wide deleveraging event highlights the fragility of the current rally when not supported by sustained spot demand. The high volume of liquidations suggests many traders were caught over-leveraged, exacerbating the downward price move.
