Swan Bitcoin Founder Warns AI Is a Bigger Threat Than Quantum Computing

AI threat Bitcoin — Swan Bitcoin founder Cory Klippsten has warned that artificial intelligence poses a more immediate security threat to the crypto ecosystem than quantum computing, citing recent high-profile exchange hacks.
Speaking on Cointelegraph’s Chain Reaction, Klippsten argued that much of the concern over quantum computing is speculative, while hackers are actively using large language models (LLMs) to probe and exploit security flaws. “I think we’re finding out that the near term threat is actually AI,” he said, pointing to its use by attackers to find vulnerabilities with simple prompts.
His comments follow a series of major security incidents, including a $6.3 billion hack at Binance attributed to North Korean actors and a security breach at Brazil’s Mercado Bitcoin that saw over $46 million moved from its wallets.
Klippsten estimated that quantum computers capable of threatening Bitcoin’s cryptography are at least a decade away, giving the network time to adapt. He cautioned that rushing to implement quantum-resistant solutions now could introduce unnecessary complexity and risk, and suggested some projects have used quantum fears to attract funding.
