$6.3 billion breach — Cryptocurrency exchange Binance has announced it has recovered approximately 90% of the digital assets stolen in a massive $6.3 billion security breach, absorbing the losses internally to protect user funds.

The company stated it is covering the shortfall using its corporate treasury, futures insurance fund, and the Secure Asset Fund for Users (SAFU). This approach ensures that all user account balances remain unaffected by the incident, with no customer funds lost.

The breach, described as one of the largest in crypto history, targeted multiple chains and involved sophisticated cross-chain bridging techniques. Binance’s security team detected the unauthorized outflows and initiated emergency procedures, including pausing deposits and withdrawals across affected networks.

An internal investigation is ongoing to determine the full scope and method of the attack. The exchange has engaged with major blockchain analytics firms and law enforcement agencies to trace the stolen funds and pursue the perpetrators.
