Institutional crypto staking grows despite falling yields and withdrawal delays

Institutional investors are increasingly embracing crypto staking, driven by easier access and growing familiarity with the practice, even as shrinking rewards and withdrawal delays test the economic viability of the strategy.
The trend highlights a maturing market where traditional finance players are becoming more comfortable with core blockchain activities. Services from major custody providers and exchanges have simplified the staking process, lowering the technical barrier for large-scale asset managers and corporations.
However, this growing adoption comes against a backdrop of declining yields for many proof-of-stake networks. As more tokens are staked, the rewards for participants are naturally diluted, compressing potential returns.
Furthermore, investors must navigate withdrawal periods or “unbonding” times, which can lock up assets for days or weeks. These delays introduce liquidity risks that institutions must carefully manage within their portfolio strategies.
