Bitcoin and VIX Suggest Friday’s Market Fear May Ease

market fear — Indicators from traditional and crypto markets suggest the sharp spike in investor fear seen on Wall Street Friday may not persist into the new trading week.
The Cboe Volatility Index (VIX), known as Wall Street’s fear gauge, surged 21.5% on Friday as stocks fell. Traders in VIX futures markets are positioning for elevated volatility to continue through November.
However, historical analysis shows that Friday spikes in the VIX have typically subsided by the following Monday. Bitcoin‘s price action over the weekend, holding above $80,000, and its own volatility index, the BVIV, remaining in a familiar range, also show no signs of acute market stress.
The initial market panic was attributed to a combination of concerns over artificial intelligence developments and geopolitical tensions.
