Ledger Unveils Atom Smartphone Wallet Amid Supply Chain Security Push

Ledger Atom smartphone wallet — Hardware wallet manufacturer Ledger has unveiled plans for the ‘Atom,’ a smartphone-like device designed to securely manage crypto assets, with a release scheduled for mid-2027.
The device will function as a standard smartphone, running apps like WhatsApp and Instagram, while featuring a protected mode for managing digital assets. Ledger stated the design includes tamper-resistant enclosures, sensors, and packaging intended to prevent supply-chain attacks, referencing the recent CryptoBilis breach as a key motivator for the new security features.
To further mitigate distribution risks, Ledger’s initial sales strategy will be direct-to-consumer via its own website, avoiding third-party retailers. The company confirmed it will not offer trade-in programs for customers affected by the CryptoBilis incident.
The announcement comes as Ledger seeks to reinforce its security reputation and expand its product line beyond traditional USB-style hardware wallets, positioning the Atom as a converged device for both everyday communication and secure crypto management.
