Bitcoin open interest — Bitcoin derivatives markets are seeing a significant influx of capital, with open interest surging by $2.3 billion as traders pay higher premiums to maintain bullish positions ahead of key economic data.

According to data from CoinGlass, the total open interest in bitcoin futures and perpetual contracts has risen to approximately 653,000 BTC, or $56.2 billion, up from 626,000 BTC on September 30. This represents an increase of 27,000 BTC, or roughly 4.3%, indicating traders are actively adding new exposure as the price trades above $86,000.

Rising open interest, which measures the total value of outstanding contracts, signals increased market activity and capital inflows. Concurrently, higher funding rates across perpetual swap markets suggest that traders positioned for further price gains are willing to pay a premium to those holding short positions.

The buildup in derivatives positioning comes ahead of the closely watched U.S. nonfarm payrolls jobs report scheduled for release on Friday, which could influence broader market sentiment. The activity has been accompanied by gains in related equities, with companies like Coinbase and Robinhood seeing pre-market increases.
