Analysts See Bitcoin Rally Pausing as Traders Take Profits

Pics-40

Bitcoin rally pausing — Bitcoin’s rally has paused as traders take profits and demand cools, according to a new report from analytics firm CryptoQuant, though the firm maintains the asset remains in a bull market.

The price recently stood at $82,939, down nearly 4% over a week after hitting an eight-month high of $87,251. CryptoQuant notes that short-term traders are sitting on an average unrealized profit of about 33%, the highest level since December 2024, which is historically a catalyst for selling. Last week saw the largest single day of profit-taking in 2026, with 25,700 BTC in gains realized.

The firm identified three key support levels where a potential correction could find a floor: the 365-day moving average near $80,000, the 200-day moving average near $71,000, and the on-chain realized price near $67,000. CryptoQuant argues that as long as these levels hold, a pullback would represent a healthy consolidation within a young bull market rather than a trend reversal.

Bitcoin entered a bull market, per CryptoQuant’s definition, when it crossed above its 365-day moving average, a signal that has marked the start of past cycles. The asset’s recent strength has been partly attributed to a resurgence in the ‘debasement trade’ as a hedge against currency devaluation.
