Bitget $351M hack — Crypto exchange Bitget has confirmed a major security breach resulting in the loss of approximately $351.6 million, while a new report shows Asia Pacific nations dominate global crypto adoption rankings.

Bitget CEO Gracy Chen stated the unauthorized transfers were contained to the exchange’s hot and warm wallet layers, with cold wallets remaining secure. The exchange has temporarily suspended withdrawals, flagged associated addresses, and contacted law enforcement. The affected amount is covered by Bitget’s User Protection Fund, which holds over $464 million.

Separately, Chainalysis’s 2026 Global Crypto Adoption Index reveals that nine of the top 20 nations are in the APAC region. Japan, South Korea, and India lead the regional rankings at fourth, fifth, and sixth place globally. Analysts note that fragmented currencies and payment systems in Asia are driving significant demand for cross-border stablecoin transfers.

In other Asia-focused news, Binance has taken a $100 million stake in stablecoin issuer Circle as part of an expanded five-year deal to promote USDC on its platform.
