Bitcoin long liquidations — Bitcoin faced a sharp correction on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, with its price dipping below $84,000 and triggering over $280 million in long liquidations within four hours.

The sell-off began after BTC/USD was rejected near $87,000, falling to local lows around the Wall Street open. Data from Coinglass showed the massive wave of liquidations as the price moved, with liquidity thickening on both sides of the spot price as traders attempted to force a breakout from a recent sideways range.

Analysts are now watching key support levels. Trader Rekt Capital highlighted that for bullish continuation, Bitcoin would need to hold above or successfully retest the $82,000 level on any future dip to avoid reverting back into its previous $60,000-$80,000 range.

Despite a 35% gain since mid-August, on-chain data suggests spot market demand remains a challenge. Analytics firm CryptoQuant reported that cumulative 30-day apparent spot demand was still negative as of Tuesday, though showing slight improvement, with interest largely confined to derivatives markets.
