24/7 FX perpetual futuresBinance has expanded its derivatives offerings by launching perpetual futures contracts for foreign exchange markets, starting with a US dollar-Brazilian real (USDBRL) pair that will trade 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The USDBRLUSDT contract, set to launch on September 21, will settle in the stablecoin USDT and offer leverage of up to 100x. To maintain continuous trading while traditional FX markets are closed, Binance will employ a dual-mode pricing system. During standard FX hours, prices will track a weighted index from third-party data providers; on weekends and holidays, pricing will shift to an orderbook-based mechanism using an exponentially weighted moving average.

Shunyet Jan, Binance’s trading head, stated the contracts are designed to extend price discovery beyond traditional market hours and provide a venue for round-the-clock hedging and position-taking. The move follows similar product launches from other crypto exchanges, including Bybit’s introduction of EUR/USD, GBP/USD, and USD/JPY perps earlier this month.

The expansion taps into the massive global over-the-counter foreign exchange market, which the Bank for International Settlements reported averaged $9.6 trillion in daily turnover in April 2025. It allows crypto traders to gain exposure to currency movements without holding the underlying fiat currencies.
