Revolut Exposes Customer Data Including Bitcoin Activity in Fake Government Scam

Bitcoin activity — Digital bank Revolut inadvertently exposed sensitive customer data, including Bitcoin transaction histories, after complying with a fraudulent government request.

The breach, confirmed by Revolut, resulted in the unauthorized disclosure of customer passports, selfies, and home addresses. The company stated that no customer funds were lost in the incident.

Revolut treated the fake request as legitimate, handing over the personal information to the scammers. The exposed data reportedly included details of customers’ cryptocurrency activity on the platform.

The incident highlights ongoing security risks at the intersection of traditional finance and digital assets, even at major fintech firms. Revolut has not disclosed the number of customers affected by the data leak.
