Swiss stablecoin sandbox begins testing phase with nine firms

Swiss stablecoin sandbox — Nine Swiss companies have begun testing a Swiss franc stablecoin within a regulatory sandbox, with financial market operator SIX and payment app TWINT joining as new partners.

The initiative, which launched in April, is now in its testing phase focused on a stablecoin called CHFD. The pilot will explore using programmable payments for digital asset settlement and reducing fraud on online marketplaces.

According to a press release, the tests will also examine how such payments can support fair access to event tickets and improve the efficiency of public payments. The sandbox aims to develop a fully compliant Swiss franc-based stablecoin.

The expansion to include SIX and TWINT alongside several Swiss banks marks a significant step for the project, reflecting growing institutional interest in regulated digital currency pilots within Switzerland’s established financial ecosystem.
